1. Eat a Gelato While Taking a Passeggiata

The perfect antidote to a hot Calabrian day is this combination. Stop at a gelateria (we have recommendations in Soverato), pick the freshest, yummiest flavor you can find, then enjoy it while walking along the lungomare.

The air is cooler in the evenings on both coasts, and taking a passeggiata is a great opportunity to people-watch since it's the social event of the day (at least since that morning at the lido!)

2. Enjoy Live Music

The music scene in Calabria is happening in July and August. Whether you prefer to listen to a local jazz band at a cozy bar or see a concert amid ancient ruins, options abound.

3. Spend the Day at the Beach

With so much pristine coastline, your only problem may be choosing which beach to plop down on. You also have the choice of lounging at a free beach (spiaggia libera) or paying for an ombrellone at a lido.

Some parts of Calabria are good for snorkeling. You'll find sea urchins, anchovies, crabs, and other sea creatures in the blue waters.

If heat and sand aren't your vibe, you have no shortage of mountains in Calabria to choose from. And they're usually a lot cooler than the coastal areas.
